Mo Nunn's Lichfield Survivor

Founded by Mo Nunn, Ensign spent ten seasons in Formula One on modest means, scoring points with a long list of drivers but never a podium.

Ensign was founded by Morris Nunn, known as Mo, who also designed its early cars at its base in Lichfield. It entered Formula One in 1973 with backing from Rikky von Opel, who had won the British Formula Three title with the team, and later ran with Dutch sponsorship that brought Gijs van Lennep, whose sixth place in Germany in 1975 gave Ensign its first points.

Chris Amon, Jacky Ickx and Clay Regazzoni all drove for Ensign, and a young Nelson Piquet appeared for it too. Its best result came at the 1981 Brazilian Grand Prix, where Marc Surer finished fourth and set the fastest lap. The team started 99 Grands Prix from 1973 to 1982, and its final entry was the 1982 Caesars Palace Grand Prix. Nunn later became a championship winning engineer in American Champ Car racing.
