Nico Hülkenberg

Formula One racing driver

The Long Road to a Podium

Nico Hülkenberg needed more than a decade of Formula One starts before he finally stood on the podium, at the 2025 British Grand Prix.

Born in Emmerich am Rhein, Nico Hülkenberg reached Formula One with a strong junior record that included the 2009 GP2 title, won in his first season in the series. Williams gave him his debut at the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix, and later that year he put the car on pole position in Brazil, still the only pole of his career.

Since then he has driven for Force India, Sauber, Renault, Racing Point, Aston Martin, Haas, Kick Sauber and Audi, sometimes as a substitute between full seasons. His 264 starts include one podium: third place at the 2025 British Grand Prix after starting nineteenth. Away from Formula One he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015 with Porsche, and in 2026 he is racing for Audi.

0 world titles, 0 wins, 1 pole positions, 264 starts.
