Aston Martin Returns to the Grid

The British sports car maker came back to Formula One in 2021 through Lawrence Stroll's Silverstone team, and Fernando Alonso brought it a run of podiums.

Aston Martin first raced in Formula One with its own DBR4 in 1959 and 1960 and left without scoring a point. The name returned in 2021 when Lawrence Stroll, a shareholder in the carmaker, rebranded his Racing Point team, the Silverstone outfit whose story began as Jordan Grand Prix. It ran Mercedes power units until 2026, when it began a works partnership with Honda.

Sebastian Vettel gave the new team its first podium with second place in Azerbaijan in 2021. Fernando Alonso joined Lance Stroll in 2023 and took eight podiums that season, including second places at Monaco, in Canada and in the Netherlands. Since 2021 the team has started 129 Grands Prix without a win, and the 2026 championship is still being decided.
