Reg Parnell Racing

1959 to 1969 Formula One team

Reg Parnell's Privateer Proving Ground

Former driver Reg Parnell built a privateer team that ran through the 1960s and gave early chances to a string of future stars.

Reg Parnell founded his team after retiring as a driver, and it ran privately entered cars from its base in Hounslow, London, through the 1960s. It raced under sponsors' names as Yeoman Credit Racing and then as the Bowmaker Racing Team, using cars from Cooper, Lola, Lotus, Ferrari and BRM. Tim Parnell was also part of the team.

Its best season came with John Surtees and the Lola in 1962. Surtees started from pole at the Dutch Grand Prix and finished second at both the British and German Grands Prix, the team's best results. Chris Amon, Mike Spence, Richard Attwood, Chris Irwin, Tony Maggs and Innes Ireland all drove for Parnell, which made its last entry at the 1969 Monaco Grand Prix.
