The Super Sub

Roberto Moreno entered 75 Grands Prix between 1982 and 1995, often as a stand in, and finished second at Suzuka in 1990.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Moreno won the Formula 3000 championship in 1988. His Formula One career began with a failure to qualify a Lotus at the 1982 Dutch Grand Prix, and he scored his first point with sixth for AGS at the 1987 Australian Grand Prix.

Spells with Coloni and EuroBrun brought more failures to qualify than starts, but late in 1990 Benetton called him in, and at the Japanese Grand Prix he finished second. He stayed with Benetton into 1991, taking fourth at Monaco and setting the fastest lap in Belgium, before making way for Michael Schumacher. Later outings for Jordan, Minardi, Andrea Moda and Forti took him to 41 starts. He then had a long career in CART.

0 world titles, 0 wins, 0 pole positions, 41 starts.
