Lotus F1

Former Formula 1 team

Enstone Under the Lotus Name

The former Renault team at Enstone raced as Lotus for four seasons, and Kimi Räikkönen won twice in its colors.

Lotus F1 Team was the Enstone outfit whose story began as Toleman and continued through Benetton and Renault. Majority owned by Genii Capital and carrying the name of Group Lotus, its branding partner, it raced under the Lotus name from 2012 to 2015, using Renault engines and then Mercedes power in its final year.

The team made a strong start. Kimi Räikkönen won the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and opened 2013 with victory in Australia, and Lotus finished fourth among the constructors in both seasons. Romain Grosjean started all but one of its 77 Grands Prix, and Pastor Maldonado joined later. The team scored 25 podiums before Renault bought it back at the end of 2015 and renamed it.
