Gianni Morbidelli raced in Formula One between 1990 and 1997, deputizing once for Ferrari and finishing third in Australia in 1995.

Born in Pesaro, Gianni Morbidelli made his Formula One debut with Dallara at the 1990 United States Grand Prix and joined Minardi for the final races of that year. He raced for Minardi through 1992, and Ferrari called him up for the 1991 Australian Grand Prix, where he finished sixth in a race cut short, earning half a point.

After a year away he joined Footwork in 1994 and finished fifth in Germany. In 1995 he took third at the Australian Grand Prix from thirteenth on the grid, the only podium of his career. His last appearances came with Sauber in 1997, ending at the Japanese Grand Prix with 67 starts. He later raced touring cars.
