Giancarlo Fisichella

Italian racecar driver

Three wins across fourteen seasons

Giancarlo Fisichella raced for seven teams, won for Jordan, Renault twice over, and finished his Formula 1 career in a Ferrari.

Giancarlo Fisichella was born in Rome, Italy, on January 14, 1973. After karting he moved to Italian Formula Three in 1992 and won the title in 1994, along with the Monaco Formula Three race. A season in the German touring car series followed before Minardi gave him his Formula 1 debut at the 1996 Australian Grand Prix.

Jordan signed him for 1997, and he reached the podium in Canada and Belgium that year. He moved to Benetton in 1998, taking his first pole position in Austria, and kept scoring podiums there through 2001, finishing sixth in the 2000 championship. Back at Jordan, he won the rain soaked 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix, a result confirmed only days later after a timekeeping error had first placed him second.

After a year at Sauber in 2004, Fisichella joined Renault for 2005 beside Fernando Alonso and won the season opening Australian Grand Prix from pole. In 2006 he won the Malaysian Grand Prix, again from pole, and finished fourth in the championship, his best result, as Renault took a second straight constructors' title. He drove for Force India in 2008 and 2009, finishing second from pole at the 2009 Belgian Grand Prix, then replaced the injured Felipe Massa at Ferrari for the final five rounds of 2009.

His last race was the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Our record lists 229 starts, 3 wins, 4 pole positions, 2 fastest laps and 19 podiums across 14 seasons. He then turned to sports cars with AF Corse, winning his class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012 and 2014, and he has run his own racing team since 2005.

0 world titles, 3 wins, 4 pole positions, 229 starts.
