Twelve Podiums with Ferrari and McLaren

Stefan Johansson raced in Formula One between 1980 and 1991, reaching the podium 12 times for Ferrari, McLaren and Onyx without a win.

Born in Växjö, Stefan Johansson won the British Formula Three championship in 1980, the same year he first entered Formula One with Shadow but failed to qualify. He returned with Spirit in 1983, made appearances for Tyrrell and Toleman in 1984, and joined Ferrari in 1985, finishing second in Canada and at Detroit.

Four more podiums came with Ferrari in 1986, and after a move to McLaren he added five in 1987, including second places in Belgium and Germany. His last podium was third at the 1989 Portuguese Grand Prix for Onyx, the team's only one. Brief spells with AGS and Footwork ended his Formula One career in 1991, with 79 starts and 12 podiums. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Joest in 1997.
