Pierre Gasly

French racing driver

Monza winner, Monza polesitter

Pierre Gasly won the 2020 Italian Grand Prix for AlphaTauri and, six years later at the same circuit, took his first pole position with Alpine.

Pierre Gasly was born in Rouen, France, on February 7, 1996, and grew up in Normandy. He began karting at ten and moved into single seaters in 2011, finishing third in French F4 that year. He won the Formula Renault Eurocup in 2013 and the GP2 Series in 2016 with Prema after a close fight with Antonio Giovinazzi, then finished second in Japan's Super Formula in 2017.

A Red Bull junior since 2014, he made his Formula 1 debut for Toro Rosso at the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix and raced for the team full time in 2018. Red Bull promoted him for 2019, but after the Hungarian Grand Prix he returned to Toro Rosso, with Alexander Albon taking his seat. Later that year he scored his first podium at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

His breakthrough came at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, which he won for the renamed AlphaTauri team, the only win of his career so far. He added another podium for the team at the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Gasly joined Alpine for 2023 and finished on the podium at the Dutch Grand Prix that year and at the rain affected 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix. Back at Monza in 2026 he took the first pole position of his career at the Italian Grand Prix.

Through the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix our record shows 192 starts, 1 win, 1 pole position, 3 fastest laps and 5 podiums across ten seasons, with Toro Rosso, Red Bull, AlphaTauri and Alpine. He is contracted to Alpine until at least the end of 2028.
