Marussia and the Points at Monaco

The team that began as Virgin Racing raced as Marussia for four seasons, scored once at Monaco and survived administration before becoming Manor.

Marussia F1 Team grew from Virgin Racing, which entered Formula One in 2010 and took Marussia, a Moscow sports car maker, as title sponsor before adopting its name fully in 2012. Run by Manor Motorsport and based in Banbury, it raced with a Russian license and Cosworth and then Ferrari engines.

Its high point came at the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix, where Jules Bianchi finished ninth to score the team's only points. Later that year Bianchi was seriously injured at the Japanese Grand Prix and died the following year. Within weeks the team entered administration and missed the final races of 2014. It was rescued in 2015 as Manor Marussia, now with a British license, and became Manor Racing in 2016. Under the Marussia name it started 73 Grands Prix, with Timo Glock, Charles Pic and Max Chilton among its drivers.
