Dutch software and games entrepreneur who led the Spyker Formula One team and was a co owner of Force India

Michiel Mol was born in Delft and studied computer science at Leiden. With some friends he started Lost Boys in 1993, and its games division became Guerrilla Games, maker of Killzone, which Sony bought. Through the Lost Boys brand he sponsored Jos Verstappen at Arrows.

In 2006 he led a group of Spyker directors in buying the Midland team for $106.6 million and became race director of the renamed Spyker F1. A year later he, his father Jan and Vijay Mallya bought the team for €80 million, and it raced on as Force India, with Mol keeping a share until Lawrence Stroll bought it in 2018. Game developers know all about extra lives; Formula One teams need them too.
