Canadian fashion investor who bought Force India in 2018 and turned it into the Aston Martin works team

Lawrence Stroll was born in Montreal, the son of a fashion importer who brought Pierre Cardin and Ralph Lauren to Canada. He took Ralph Lauren into Europe and, alongside the Hong Kong investor Silas Chou, backed Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors on their way to global fame. From 2000 to 2022 he also owned the Mont Tremblant circuit in Quebec.

In August 2018 he led the consortium that bought the assets of Force India, which re entered the season as Racing Point and finished seventh. In January 2020 his Yew Tree consortium invested £182 million in Aston Martin, and from 2021 the team raced in British racing green under that name. He had spent decades dressing people well; now he dressed a racing team.
