Five Seasons Before Indianapolis Glory

Marcus Ericsson raced in Formula One with Caterham and Sauber from 2014 to 2018, then won the Indianapolis 500 in 2022.

Born in Kumla, Marcus Ericsson won the British Formula BMW title in 2007 and the All Japan Formula Three Championship in his debut year there, then spent four seasons in GP2. Caterham gave him his Formula One debut at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix.

He moved to Sauber for 2015 and scored his first points straight away with eighth in Australia, which remained his best result. Four seasons with the Swiss team brought further points, including three ninth places in 2018, his final year. His last race was the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after 97 starts. He then moved to IndyCar and won the Indianapolis 500 in 2022 with Chip Ganassi Racing.
