Jarno Trulli's day at Monaco

Jarno Trulli raced fifteen seasons in Formula 1, and his one victory came from pole position at Monaco in 2004 with Renault.

Jarno Trulli was born in Pescara, Italy, on 13 July 1974. He won the Karting World Championship in 1991 and a string of Italian and other karting titles up to 1995, then took the German Formula Three championship in 1996.

Minardi gave him his Formula 1 debut at the 1997 Australian Grand Prix. After seven races he moved to Prost as a replacement for the injured Olivier Panis, finishing fourth in Germany and leading in Austria before his engine failed. He stayed at Prost for two more seasons and scored his first podium with second place at the 1999 European Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. Two years at Jordan followed, without a podium but with strong qualifying performances.

Renault signed him for 2002, and in 2004 he took pole position at Monaco and converted it into victory, his only Grand Prix win, on the way to sixth in the championship, his best finish. He moved to Toyota before the end of that season and stayed through 2009, taking three podiums in 2005 and three more in 2009, when he also started from pole in Bahrain.

His final two seasons were with the new Lotus team in 2010 and 2011. He had been due to continue in 2012 but retired before the season began. His record shows 252 starts, 1 win, 4 pole positions, 1 fastest lap and 11 podiums. He later took part in the first season of Formula E with his own Trulli GP team.

0 world titles, 1 wins, 4 pole positions, 252 starts.
