From Jaguar to Red Bull

Christian Klien raced in Formula One for Jaguar, Red Bull and HRT between 2004 and 2010, with a best finish of fifth.

Born in Hohenems, Christian Klien started karting at 13 and won titles in junior single seaters before Jaguar gave him his Formula One debut at the 2004 Australian Grand Prix. He scored his first points with sixth at the Belgian Grand Prix that year.

He drove for Red Bull in 2005 and 2006, and in the first of those seasons he finished fifth at the Chinese Grand Prix, his best result. After the 2006 season he lost his seat and became a reserve and test driver, including for BMW Sauber in 2008. He returned for three races with HRT at the end of 2010, the last of them the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, finishing with 49 starts.
