Fourth at Monaco for Dallara

Alex Caffi raced in Formula One from 1986 to 1992, and his best result was fourth place at the 1989 Monaco Grand Prix.

Born in Rovato, Alex Caffi was twice runner up in Italian Formula Three before Osella gave him his Formula One debut at the 1986 Italian Grand Prix, the home race for both driver and team. A full season with the struggling Osella followed in 1987.

He moved to the Dallara cars of Scuderia Italia in 1988, and in 1989 he finished fourth at Monaco and sixth in Canada. With Arrows in 1990 he took fifth at Monaco again. His final seasons brought few starts, with Footwork in 1991 and a single entry for Andrea Moda at the 1992 South African Grand Prix, leaving him with 56 starts from 74 entries. He later raced in Grand Prix Masters and became a team owner in the NASCAR Euro Series.
