Super Aguri's Brief Honda Backed Run

Created by Aguri Suzuki to keep Takuma Sato in Formula One, Super Aguri raced with Honda engines for two seasons and part of a third.

Super Aguri F1 was founded by former driver Aguri Suzuki and grew partly out of public support in Japan for Takuma Sato, who had lost his Honda seat. Registered in Tokyo but run from the old Arrows factory at Leafield in Oxfordshire, it used Honda engines and worked to some degree as Honda's second team. It reached the grid in 2006 and started 39 Grands Prix.

Sato drove in every one of them, and in 2007 he scored all of the team's points, with eighth in Spain and sixth in Canada. Anthony Davidson was his teammate that year, while Yuji Ide, Franck Montagny and Sakon Yamamoto drove in 2006. Facing financial difficulties, the team withdrew after the first four races of 2008.
