Georges Filipinetti's Swiss Showcase

Set up by Switzerland's Ferrari importer to give Swiss drivers a path to professional racing, Filipinetti made its name in sports cars.

Scuderia Filipinetti was founded by Georges Filipinetti, the Swiss importer of Ferrari cars and a former president of the Swiss karting federation, to help Swiss drivers progress into professional racing. It first called itself Ecurie Nationale Suisse but changed the name after objections from the Automobile Club de Suisse. Its red and white cars were usually Ferraris, though in Formula One it also ran Lotuses.

The team was active from 1962 to 1973 and appeared only occasionally in Formula One, with Jo Siffert among its Swiss drivers. Its greatest success came in sports cars, with victory in the 1966 Targa Florio for Willy Mairesse and Herbert Müller. A planned return to Formula One in 1973 was abandoned after Georges Filipinetti died in May of that year.
