Ecurie Nationale Belge

Formula One team

Belgium's National Racing Team

Formed from two Belgian private stables, Ecurie Nationale Belge raced other makers' cars for years and once entered a car of its own.

Ecurie Nationale Belge, more accurately Equipe Nationale Belge, was formed by merging Jacques Swaters' Ecurie Francorchamps with Johnny Claes' Ecurie Belge, although Ecurie Francorchamps carried on separately with its Ferraris. The team raced in Formula One and in sports cars through the 1950s and 1960s, with drivers including Olivier Gendebien and Lucien Bianchi.

Over the years it ran Ferrari, Cooper, Lotus and Emeryson chassis. Its one car of its own design, the ENB, was drawn by co founder Jacques Coune and appeared in a single World Championship race, the 1962 German Grand Prix, where Lucien Bianchi finished sixteenth. That race was also the team's last World Championship entry.
