The 1994 season

Grief at Imola, One Point in Adelaide

A season darkened by the deaths of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna ended with Michael Schumacher beating Damon Hill by a single point.

The electronic aids were gone, and drivers were once again trusted to manage the throttle on their own. For 1994 active suspension, traction control, launch control and anti lock brakes were all banned, and refueling during races, absent since 1983, was brought back. Ayrton Senna had taken Alain Prost's place at Williams after Prost retired. Senna started the first two races from pole and finished neither, and Michael Schumacher won both for Benetton.
