The 1975 season

Lauda and the Ferrari 312T

Niki Lauda won five races in Ferrari's new 312T and took his first title, while the season around him was marked by stopped races and loss.

Brabham looked like the team to beat when 1975 began, and Carlos Pace's first win, at home in São Paulo, seemed to prove it. Emerson Fittipaldi had already won the opener in Argentina, and Jody Scheckter won his home race at Kyalami, so for a few weeks racing at home looked like the surest route to victory. Ferrari, though, had the 312T, and Niki Lauda, in his second season with the team, made it the yardstick of the year.
