The 1974 season

Fittipaldi and McLaren, Decided at the Glen

Emerson Fittipaldi and Clay Regazzoni arrived at the final round level on points, and fourth place gave Fittipaldi and McLaren the title.

With Jackie Stewart retired, 1974 began with no reigning champion on the grid and the order thoroughly reshuffled. Emerson Fittipaldi had left Lotus for McLaren. Ferrari, under new management, signed Clay Regazzoni and Niki Lauda from BRM. Tyrrell rebuilt around Jody Scheckter and Patrick Depailler. Over fifteen rounds seven different drivers won, and the standings rarely sat still for long.
