Dutch former Formula One driver who ran the Caterham team as team principal and chief executive in the summer of 2014

Christijan Albers, born in Eindhoven and the son of rallycross champion André Albers, made his name in the DTM before racing in Formula One from 2005 with Minardi, Midland and Spyker, until he was dropped after the 2007 British Grand Prix. At the 2006 San Marino Grand Prix he survived a series of spectacular rolls unhurt.

In July 2014 Tony Fernandes sold Caterham to a consortium of Swiss and Middle Eastern investors. Cyril Abiteboul stepped down, and the new owners gave Albers his position, running the team day to day as team principal and chief executive from July to September 2014. It is rare for a driver to cross to the pit wall so soon, and rarer still at a team in such a hurry.
