Christian Horner raced and won in British Formula Renault, then in 1997 cofounded the Formula 3000 team Arden International with his father. A pre season test in which he followed Juan Pablo Montoya through a fast corner persuaded him that his future lay on the pit wall rather than in the cockpit, and he stepped back from driving to run Arden, which won Formula 3000 titles.

In 2005, aged 31, he took charge of the new Red Bull team as the youngest principal the sport had ever seen. Adrian Newey joined that year, Sebastian Vettel followed in 2009, and the team won four consecutive doubles from 2010 to 2013. Max Verstappen brought another golden era, including 21 wins from 22 races in 2023. Across 21 seasons Red Bull won six constructors' titles, eight drivers' titles and 124 Grands Prix. Horner left midway through 2025.
