French engineer who ran Peugeot Sport and led the Alpine Formula One team until August 2024

Bruno Famin's career began far from the paddock, in 1986, moving freight around West Africa. He went back to study engines and in 1989 joined Peugeot Talbot Sport as a development engineer. Peugeot Sport made him its technical director in 2005 and its director in 2012, then moved to the FIA in 2019.

In February 2022 Alpine put him in charge of its Formula One engine development, along with its endurance and rally raid programs, and he later took over as team principal before handing that role to Oliver Oakes in August 2024. In March 2026 he became number two at the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, the organizers of Le Mans. A career that started with trucks in West Africa has a pleasing sense of continuity about it: always moving things quickly from one place to another.
