British racing manager who ran Force India's race weekends as deputy team principal until 2018

Bob Fernley spent years managing racing teams and owned plenty of racing equipment in America, particularly for IndyCar racing. His long working ties with Vijay Mallya brought him onto the board of Force India soon after Mallya bought the former Spyker team.

As deputy team principal he ran the team's operations at race weekends when Mallya was not there, and handled its dealings with the FIA and the sport's organizers. He left after Lawrence Stroll's consortium bought the team's assets in August 2018, and that November took charge of McLaren's Indianapolis 500 program as its president. He later chaired the FIA's Single Seater Commission. He died on the 30th of June 2023.
