Adrián Campos first won a Spanish championship in radio controlled car racing in 1980. He moved to real cars a year later, raced Formula Three and Formula 3000, and drove 21 Grands Prix for Minardi in 1987 and 1988.

His greater success came in management. In 1998 he set up Campos Racing, and in 2009 his Campos Grand Prix won one of four new entries for 2010, signing Bruno Senna, nephew of Ayrton. In February 2010, with money short, shareholder José Ramón Carabante took full control and Colin Kolles replaced Campos as team principal, and the team raced as Hispania. A grid place earned from radio controlled cars upward is not a bad ascent. He died on the 27th of January 2021.
