Valtteri Bottas won ten Grands Prix as Lewis Hamilton's teammate at Mercedes and returned to a full time seat in 2026 with Cadillac.

Valtteri Bottas was born in Nastola, Finland, on August 28, 1989. He started karting at six and reached single seaters in 2007. In 2008 he won both the Formula Renault NEC and the Formula Renault Eurocup, the latter by three points over Daniel Ricciardo. He won the Masters of Formula 3 in 2009 and 2010 and the GP3 Series in 2011, then spent two years as a test driver before Williams gave him a race seat.

He made his debut at the 2013 Australian Grand Prix. In 2014 he took his first podium at the Austrian Grand Prix and finished fourth in the championship, and across four Williams seasons he reached the podium nine times.

Mercedes chose him for 2017 to replace the retired Nico Rosberg beside Lewis Hamilton. He took his first pole in Bahrain and his first win at the 2017 Russian Grand Prix, adding wins in Austria and Abu Dhabi to finish third. After a winless 2018 he won four races in 2019 and two in 2020, finishing second to Hamilton in both seasons. His last victory for the team came at the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix, and he left after helping Mercedes to five straight constructors' titles.

Bottas raced for Alfa Romeo in 2022 and 2023 and for Sauber in 2024, then served as a Mercedes reserve driver before returning full time with Cadillac in 2026. Through the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix our record shows 261 starts, 10 wins, 20 pole positions, 19 fastest laps and 67 podiums across 13 seasons.
