Tyrrell and Arrows Before Formula Nippon Glory

Toranosuke Takagi raced in Formula One for Tyrrell in 1998 and Arrows in 1999, then won the Formula Nippon title.

Born in Shizuoka, Toranosuke Takagi raced karts from the early 1980s and moved into Formula 3000 with Nakajima Racing. After a year as a Tyrrell test driver in 1997, he made his Formula One debut with the team at the 1998 Australian Grand Prix.

A season with Arrows followed in 1999, when seventh place at the Australian Grand Prix was his best result. His Formula One career ended at the 1999 Japanese Grand Prix with 32 starts and no points. Back in Japan, he won the Formula Nippon Championship in 2000 and the GT500 class of Super GT in 2005.
