Third in Austria for Brabham

Tim Schenken raced in Formula One from 1970 to 1974 and finished third at the 1971 Austrian Grand Prix with Brabham.

Born in Sydney, Tim Schenken won the British Formula Ford and Lombank Formula Three championships in 1968. He made his Formula One debut with De Tomaso at the 1970 Austrian Grand Prix and joined Brabham for 1971.

That season brought sixth in Germany and third at the Austrian Grand Prix, his only podium. A year with Surtees followed, with fifth in Argentina, before brief spells with Iso Marlboro, Trojan and Lotus. His last Grand Prix was the 1974 United States Grand Prix, after 34 starts. He had more success in sports cars with Ferrari, winning the Buenos Aires and Nürburgring 1000 km races in 1972.
