Le Mans Winner and Benetton Podiums

Martin Brundle raced in Formula One from 1984 to 1996, scored nine podiums and won Le Mans with Jaguar along the way.

Born in King's Lynn, Martin Brundle was runner up in British Formula Three in 1983 and joined Tyrrell for his Formula One debut at the 1984 Brazilian Grand Prix. After spells with Zakspeed, a single race for Williams and Brabham, he found his best form at Benetton in 1992, with five podiums including second at the Italian Grand Prix.

Further podiums followed with Ligier at San Marino in 1993, with McLaren at Monaco, where he was second, and in Australia in 1994, and with Ligier again in Belgium in 1995. He retired after the 1996 season with Jordan, having made 158 starts with nine podiums. Between his Formula One seasons he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1990 with Jaguar, and he went on to a long career as a television commentator.
