Minardi Racer and Ferrari Tester

Marc Gené raced in Formula One for Minardi in 1999 and 2000 and later stood in for Williams, before winning Le Mans in 2009.

Born in Sabadell, Marc Gené made his Formula One debut with Minardi at the 1999 Australian Grand Prix. In that first season he finished sixth at a European Grand Prix full of retirements, scoring the team's point.

After a second year with Minardi he became a test driver for Williams, and he raced for the team three times as a replacement. The first of those outings, the 2003 Italian Grand Prix, brought fifth place, the best result of his career. His last start came at the 2004 British Grand Prix, the 36th of his career. He later won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Peugeot in 2009, tested for Ferrari and worked as a television commentator.
