Karl Wendlinger raced in Formula One from 1991 to 1995 for Leyton House, March and Sauber, with three fourth place finishes.

Born in Kufstein, Karl Wendlinger won the German Formula 3 Championship in 1989 and drove sports cars for Mercedes alongside Michael Schumacher. He made his Formula One debut with Leyton House at the 1991 Japanese Grand Prix and finished fourth in Canada for March in 1992.

With Sauber in 1993 he took fourth at the Italian Grand Prix and fifth in Portugal, and he opened 1994 with fourth at San Marino. Only three starts came that year, and he returned for six races in 1995 before his final Grand Prix in Australia, finishing with 41 starts. He went on to a long career in sports car and touring car racing.
