The First Formula 3000 Champion

Born in Munich, Christian Danner raced in the Renault 5 Cup and European Formula Two before becoming the inaugural International Formula 3000 champion in 1985, with four wins. Zakspeed gave him two Formula One starts that year, beginning at the Belgian Grand Prix.

In 1986 he drove for Osella and then Arrows, scoring a point with sixth in Austria. A return to Zakspeed in 1987 brought no points, and after a year in touring cars he joined Rial for 1989, finishing fourth at the United States Grand Prix, his best result. He started only four races that season, the last of his 36 starts. He then became a regular in the German touring car championship.
