Charles Leclerc won junior titles in successive years, joined Ferrari after one Formula 1 season, and won his home Grand Prix in 2024.

Charles Leclerc was born in Monte Carlo, Monaco, on October 16, 1997. He started karting at seven and won the junior karting World Cup in 2011. After Formula Renault 2.0 and a rookie season in European Formula 3, he won the 2016 GP3 Series with ART and then the first FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2017 with Prema, in his first year in the category.

As a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy he made his Formula 1 debut with Sauber at the 2018 Australian Grand Prix. Ferrari promoted him for 2019 beside Sebastian Vettel. He took pole position in Bahrain, won for the first time at the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix and followed it a week later by winning the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Ferrari's first win there in nine years.

After two seasons without a win, he won three races in 2022 and finished runner up to Max Verstappen. In 2024 he won the Monaco Grand Prix, the first driver from Monaco to win it in 93 years, and added victories in Italy and the United States to finish third in the championship. Lewis Hamilton became his teammate in 2025, and under the new rules of 2026 Leclerc won the British Grand Prix.

Through the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix our record shows 186 starts, 9 wins, 27 pole positions, 13 fastest laps and 54 podiums across nine seasons, all with Sauber and Ferrari. His pole total is the highest of any driver without a world title. He is contracted to Ferrari until at least the end of 2028.
