The 1962 season

Graham Hill and BRM Outlast Clark

Graham Hill and BRM won their first titles after a season long duel with Jim Clark's Lotus, decided by an oil leak at the final round.

Two pieces of engineering framed 1962. Lotus produced the 25, the first car whose structure was an aluminum monocoque rather than a space frame, and BRM began racing its own V8. Stirling Moss, who was to have driven for Ferrari, never started the season; a crash at Goodwood had ended his career. Jack Brabham set up a team of his own, and when his BT3 scored he became the first driver to earn points in a car that bore his name, an honor few drivers have been in a position to chase.
