American racer and marketing entrepreneur who has been chief executive of McLaren Racing since 2018

Zak Brown's racing career began with a game show. As a teenager in 1984 he won $3,050 on Wheel of Fortune and spent it on his first kart, then won 22 races in five seasons of karting before heading to Europe for Formula Ford, Formula Opel and Formula Three. A decade of professional racing followed.

In 1995 he founded Just Marketing International, which became the biggest marketing agency in motorsport anywhere, and in 2009 he cofounded the sports car team United Autosports with Richard Dean. McLaren brought him in as an executive director in 2016, and in 2018 he became chief executive of McLaren Racing. The team won the constructors' championship in 2024 and again in 2025. The wheel, it turns out, kept turning.
