Paul Stewart

Scottish racing driver and team owner who cofounded Stewart Grand Prix with his father Jackie

Paul Stewart first steered a car perched on his father's lap, going up and down the driveway of the family home in Switzerland, where Jo Bonnier and Jochen Rindt lived nearby. He was educated first at Aiglon College and then at Duke University, and raced Formula Ford, British Formula 3 and Formula 3000 between 1987 and 1993 with Paul Stewart Racing, the team he and his father launched together.

That junior team became the base for something larger. In 1996 he and Jackie cofounded Stewart Grand Prix, Ford's works team, which competed from 1997 until Ford bought it at the end of 1999 and rebranded it Jaguar Racing. Few sons can say they built a Grand Prix winner with their father.
