Italian driver and constructor from near Turin whose Osella team raced in Formula One from 1980 to 1990

Enzo Osella grew up in Volpiano, near Turin, where his parents ran a grocery and a transport business, and he learned his trade fixing customers' cars at his father's garage in the city. A rally driving client invited him along as navigator in 1957, and before long Osella was racing himself, first in his sister's Fiat 600 and then in a Lotus 11 modified to his own design.

In 1963 Carlo Abarth hired him as a test driver, an education in building and tuning racing cars. He went on to found his own constructor, and the Osella team competed in Formula One for eleven seasons, from 1980 to 1990. He died on the 27th of September 2025.
