Alfred Moss

British dentist and racing driver, father of Stirling Moss, who cofounded the British Racing Partnership

Alfred Moss was a successful London dentist who raced in his spare time from his mid twenties. His first event, a winter trial in 1921, ended in disqualification after he sought help when both rear tires burst, and he went on to race at Brooklands and to start the 1924 Indianapolis 500 in a Fronty Ford.

He met his wife Aileen at Brooklands, and their children became racing royalty: Stirling Moss in Formula One and Pat Moss in rallying. In 1957 he and Ken Gregory, who managed Stirling, founded the British Racing Partnership to field cars for Stirling whenever he was free of other contracts, and for promising young drivers. He died on the 23rd of April 1972, aged 75.
