Umberto Maglioli started ten World Championship Grands Prix between 1953 and 1957 and finished third at Monza in 1954 and in Argentina in 1955.

Born in Bioglio, Umberto Maglioli made his World Championship debut for Ferrari at the 1953 Italian Grand Prix. A year later he was classified third at the same race, and at the 1955 Argentine Grand Prix he again finished third for Ferrari.

He later drove for Maserati in 1956 and for Porsche at the 1957 German Grand Prix, his tenth and last start. His greater fame came in road and sports car racing: he won the Targa Florio three times in nineteen attempts and took second in the 1951 Mille Miglia. He died in 1999.
