GP2 Record Breaker at McLaren

Stoffel Vandoorne scored a point on his Formula One debut in 2016 and raced two full seasons for McLaren before winning the Formula E title.

Belgian driver Stoffel Vandoorne won the Formula Renault Eurocup in 2012 and dominated the 2015 GP2 Series with seven wins. As a McLaren junior he made his Formula One debut at the 2016 Bahrain Grand Prix, standing in for an injured Fernando Alonso and finishing tenth for a point.

He raced full time for McLaren in 2017 and 2018, with seventh places in Singapore and Malaysia in 2017 as his best results. After the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, his 41st start, he was released by the team. He moved to Formula E, where he won the 2021 to 2022 world championship with Mercedes, and has since driven for Peugeot in the World Endurance Championship and served as a reserve driver in Formula One.
