Third on Debut for Lotus

Reine Wisell finished third in his first Grand Prix for Lotus in 1970 and raced in Formula One until 1974.

Born in Motala, Reine Wisell won the Swedish Formula Three Championship in 1967. Lotus brought him in late in 1970, and on his debut at the United States Grand Prix he finished third from ninth on the grid.

He stayed with Lotus for 1971, finishing fourth in South Africa and Austria, fifth in Canada and sixth in France, and he also raced the team's Pratt and Whitney powered car. Later outings with BRM, Lotus again and March were few, and his final start came at his home Swedish Grand Prix in 1974, his 22nd. He died in 2022.
