Second at Spa for Ferrari

Paul Frère raced in 11 World Championship Grands Prix between 1952 and 1956 and finished second at his home race in 1956.

Born in Le Havre and racing for Belgium, Paul Frère combined driving with a career as a motoring journalist. He made his World Championship debut at the 1952 Belgian Grand Prix in an HWM, finishing fifth, and also drove Gordini cars.

Driving for Ferrari, he finished fourth at his home race in 1955 and second there in 1956, the best result of his career and his last Grand Prix, which brought his total to 11 starts. He won the non championship Grand Prix des Frontières in 1952 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1960 with Olivier Gendebien. He died in 2008.
