Two Podiums for Maserati

Onofre Marimón finished third twice for Maserati, in Belgium in 1953 and Britain in 1954, before his fatal accident at the Nürburgring.

Born in Zárate, Argentina, Onofre Marimón made his World Championship debut at the 1951 French Grand Prix. He returned with Maserati in 1953 and finished third at the Belgian Grand Prix.

At the 1954 British Grand Prix he started twenty eighth, set the fastest lap and finished third, and that year he also won the non championship Rome Grand Prix. During practice for the 1954 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring he lost control of his Maserati and was killed, the first driver to die at a World Championship Grand Prix meeting. He had made 11 starts.
