Michael Andretti, the 1991 CART champion, raced for McLaren in 1993 and finished third at Monza in his final Formula One race.

Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Michael Andretti won the 1991 CART championship and later finished his American career with 42 race wins, the most of the CART era. McLaren signed him for 1993 alongside Ayrton Senna, and he made his debut at the South African Grand Prix.

Points came with fifth in Spain and sixth in France, and at the Italian Grand Prix he finished third from ninth on the grid. That was his 13th and final start, as he left the team by mutual agreement with three races remaining. He returned to CART and later became a team owner, running Andretti Autosport.
