Maurício Gugelmin raced in Formula One from 1988 to 1992, and his one podium came at the 1989 Brazilian Grand Prix.

Born in Joinville, Maurício Gugelmin won the British Formula Three Championship and the Macau Grand Prix in 1985 before March gave him his Formula One debut at the 1988 Brazilian Grand Prix. He scored points in his first season, with fourth place at the British Grand Prix.

A year later he returned to his home race and finished third, the only podium of his career. He stayed with the team as it took the Leyton House name, then spent 1992 with Jordan, his last season, ending at the Australian Grand Prix with 74 starts. He went on to race in CART from 1993 to 2001, winning in Vancouver in 1997.
