McLaren's champion of 2025

Lando Norris came through the McLaren young driver program, waited five seasons for a first win, then took the 2025 world title.

Lando Norris was born in Bristol, England, on November 13, 1999, and races as a British driver. He began karting at eight and won the senior karting World Championship in 2014. His single seater career moved fast: the 2015 MSA Formula title, then the Toyota Racing Series and two Formula Renault championships in 2016, the FIA Formula 3 European title in 2017, and second place to George Russell in Formula 2 in 2018.

Part of the McLaren young driver program since 2017, he joined the race team for 2019 beside Carlos Sainz Jr. and made his debut at the 2019 Australian Grand Prix. A first podium and fastest lap followed at the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix, and his first pole position came at the 2021 Russian Grand Prix. He took seven podiums in 2023 as McLaren's form improved.

The breakthrough arrived at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, his first win. He won four races that year and finished runner up to Max Verstappen. In 2025 he won seven more, including the British Grand Prix, and claimed the championship after a fight with Verstappen and his teammate Oscar Piastri.

Norris has stayed with McLaren since his debut, and in 2026 he has won the Hungarian and Dutch Grands Prix. Through the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix our record shows 166 starts, 13 wins, 19 pole positions, 20 fastest laps and 49 podiums across eight seasons, with the 2025 title. He is contracted to McLaren until at least the end of 2030.
