Toro Rosso Years Before Formula E Titles

Jean Éric Vergne raced three seasons for Toro Rosso from 2012 to 2014, then won two Formula E championships.

Born in Pontoise, Jean Éric Vergne won the British Formula 3 Championship in 2010 and finished runner up in Formula Renault 3.5 in 2011. Toro Rosso brought him into Formula One at the 2012 Australian Grand Prix, and he scored points several times in his first season.

His best results were sixth places at the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix and the 2014 Singapore Grand Prix. He drove for Toro Rosso for all three of his seasons, the last with Renault power, and his final race was the 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after 58 starts. He then served as a Ferrari test and development driver and moved to Formula E, where he won the title in 2017 to 2018 and again in 2018 to 2019 with Techeetah.
